Erin Huss, Director
Privileged to direct such an extensive program, Mrs. Huss has served as not only the director, but as a choreographer, show designer, and founder of the new Musical Theatre class for the WSHS Choral Department. Her wide variety of experience encompasses professional, university, high school, community and church choruses. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Mrs. Huss holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education and a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting. While earning her Masters, Mrs. Huss studied under the former president of the American Choral Director's Association, Dr. David Stutzenberger, as well as directed the music of various musicals for student organizations, and co-directed many of the University's Choral Ensembles.
An active performer and vocalist, some of her credits include performing with the UT Singers (the University's renowned touring jazz ensemble), lead singer of the William Boyd Jazz Group in Knoxville, TN, guest artist at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Ceremony in Washington, D.C., and has performed with world re-known vocalist and director Patrick A'Hearn for the Rappahannock Pops Orchestra. With a passion for Musical Theatre, Mrs. Huss has starred in performances as Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Bombalurina in CATS, Nancy in Oliver!, Sandy in Grease, and most recently, Eva Peron in Evita.
Mrs. Huss was privileged to study under the late Opera singer Rhona Pulman, and performers Rachelle Hawkey, and Andrew Skoog. She now carries that expertise in her teachings at WSHS in hopes of inspiring young, eager performers.
Mrs. Huss resides in Northern Virginia with her husband, Ryan, and is excited about the recent birth of their first daughter and son.
